DU EL's career orientation process accompanies a young person from self-discovery to real professional experience. Our approach combines career orientation, work-based learning and dual-education principles: learning is connected to two environments — the educational setting and the real workplace.
Informed Career Choice
Stage 01
Explore
With a career guidance psychologist you map your interests, strengths and values.
This stage produces the participant's personal career portfolio — the foundation for everything that follows.
The three stages, step by step
1
Stage 01
Explore
With a career guidance psychologist you map your interests, strengths and values.
This stage produces the participant's personal career portfolio — the foundation for everything that follows.
2
Stage 02
Engage
You complete learning units, earn badges and unlock new opportunities — tours, meetings, workshops.
Each successfully completed learning unit earns a badge. Badges show progress in a gamified way and unlock the next opportunities: company tours, exploration of different sectors, meetings with professionals and exposure to corporate culture.
3
Stage 03
Experience
You test your direction in practice — interviews, mentoring, workplace observation and internships.
The stage results in a career direction tested through experience, professional feedback and a plan for the next steps in education, internship or employment.
Informed Career Choice
The Compass is the documented outcome of the three stages, not a fourth learning stage.
01
Stage 01
Explore
With the support of a career guidance psychologist, the participant maps:
interests
strengths
values
abilities
skills in development
preferred working environment
possible career directions
This stage produces the participant's personal career portfolio — the foundation for everything that follows.
02
Stage 02
Engage
The participant joins the process of building the skills the labour market needs. The stage includes:
self-paced learning units
practical courses
in-person workshops
team assignments
communication and collaboration skills
exploring workplace culture
developing professional skills
Each successfully completed learning unit earns a badge. Badges show progress in a gamified way and unlock the next opportunities: company tours, exploration of different sectors, meetings with professionals and exposure to corporate culture.
03
Stage 03
Experience
Based on the participant's career portfolio, badges and interests, DU EL organises:
technical and mock interviews
individual and sector mentoring
the chance to observe a professional at work
practical assignments
workplace scenario try-outs
internships
The stage results in a career direction tested through experience, professional feedback and a plan for the next steps in education, internship or employment.
The participant completes the program with a finished career portfolio, a DUELian timeline and a clear plan for the next steps.
How we work
The program is delivered by:
experienced career guidance psychologists
professionals from different sectors
professional mentors
human resources specialists
representatives of partner organisations
real employers
We do not choose a profession for a young person. We create the conditions for them to discover, explore and test their own path in practice.
Learning badges
Progress you can see
A badge certifies a specific skill or completed learning outcome — never attendance alone. Gamification stays restrained: progress, achievement, discovery.

DU EL Compass
Your whole journey in one portfolio
The DU EL program concludes with the participant's personal compass: a finished career portfolio documenting the whole journey. It shows where they started, what they discovered about themselves, which skills they developed, which careers and companies they explored, what experiences they completed and what comes next.
